University Policy
The International Oversight Committee (IOC) maintains a Restricted Regions List of locations worldwide that pose a heightened travel risk due to health, safety and/or security reasons. Travel to these countries must receive pre-approval before making travel arrangements. See https://travel.utexas.edu/booking-travel/international-travel.
Register Your Travel and Receive Confirmation of International Travel Authorization
As outlined in the University of Texas at Austin International Travel Process, all University of Texas international travelers (not participating in approved Education Abroad programs) must register their trips in the UT Austin International Travel Registry (ITR).
After completing your travel registration, create a confirmation receipt and email it to Global Risk and Safety at grs@austin.utexas.edu. Include your first name, last name, and EID (example: “Jon Smith JS1234 ITR”) in the file name. Upon review of your registration, the GRS team will reply via email confirming your final travel authorization.
Travel Arrangements
International travel arrangements can be coordinated with Anthony Travel or the Concur Travel online booking tool when traveling on university funds.
Recommendations
Travel continues to become more complex due to industry and world events. The following are recommendations to assist with safe and efficient travel:
- Make business travel reservations via a UT-authorized travel agency. Travel booked through airline or other vendor websites can be difficult to access during emergency situations, and our agencies cannot assist with these reservations.
- Provide a co-worker with both your business and after-hours telephone numbers.
- Allow extra time for all aspects of travel, from ground transportation to airport security check-in.
- Minimize jewelry and carry-on items that may trigger airport screening machines.
- If you change your travel plans while on the road, notify a co-worker of the revised schedule.
- Be aware of your surroundings and stay current on world events.
- Access websites for up-to-date information.
