Research
My research evolves around designing/constructing novel UV/Visible/Infrared Imaging and Spectroscopic instruments for cutting-edge astronomical sciences. Topics of my research include:
- Developing compact & cost-effective wide-field Imaging systems for Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT) and for Large-aperture Space Situational Awareness telescopes (SSAT).
- Wavefront sensing, Phase retrieval, and Point-Spread-Function engineering for high-performance imaging & spectroscopy.
- Precision Imaging performance evaluation & fine alignment guidance of imaging & spectroscopic systems using full-field Wavefront mapping.
- Designing small, cheap, scalable Integral-Field Unit (IFU) spectrographs for ELTs, SSAT, and Unmanned Areal Vehicles (UAV).
- Adaptive / Active Optics for Telescope Systems.
- Off-axis Free-form Reflective Systems for imaging and spectroscopy.
- Precision transit spectroscopy of exoplanetary atmospheres by using mini-IFU based wide-field multi-object spectroscopy.
